First of all, Reese and Jessica were together for six months by the time they were in Mexico on 9/11. He says "it's been six months" when she tells her mother she's with "Cindy" and hasn't yet told her about John ( ... )

Yeah, I've been thinking about this ever since I posted it, and I believe you're right. Stanton know about Jessica and John's meeting at the airport, and they also talked on the cellphone before her death. So I'm sure the Machine caught those interactions and Finch was able to follow those trails to link Jessica and John together.

Great minds think alike because I just sent you an email regarding possible autograph images. And yes, let's talk on the phone sometime soon to iron out all the details. I'M GETTING (who am I kidding - AM STILL) SO EXCITED ABOUT OUR TRIP!! :)

I'm not sure I can answer all of your question, but I just watched the pilot and in one of the scenes with Jessica, she says something about how they've been together for "six weeks". So there might have been more for the Machine to 'see' and then use to connect the two of them. And, in a flashback in a later episode, we get a glimpse of her picture on one of the monitors that Finch is using. I don't know if this helps or not....

(oops, didn't see that someone else had already pointed this out!)

That's ok! I think there are still questions to be asked though and that we will hopefully learn more about their pasts and the Machine's capabilities in the new season. For instance, you are right that in the Pilot they talk about Reese and Jessica being together for 6 weeks, but then why does Finch say they'd only had 4 days together?

Part of the fun of the show are all the questions, so I simply can't wait until next week! FINALLY the super-long hiatus is almost over! :)

Maybe because that's the only time period that the Machine knew about? The only records it could access that would put them together...passport control, airline tickets, stuff like that? And the '4 days' would have been the Saturday-Tuesday time period that's referenced in their conversation..I think it's just before John tells her that he's left the Rangers because he was afraid she wouldn't be there when he came home the next time. And yeah, next week can't get here fast enough!

I think you may be right. The Machine can still go back through old official records, it just doesn't have "real time" video or audio from that time before its creation. Interesting stuff!!
