I had my boppy, COMFORTABLE undies that you can wear a pad with (a huge pad), and I had trashy magazines cause it was hard to concentrate on important stuff. Oh and take your nipple shield and lanolin they will be life savers if you need them. Don't let the lactation specialist feed you bull about the nipple shield if you have to use it. Hopefully your nipples will be cool, but mine definately weren't and they discouraged me from using them until the baby drove me crazy, then everything was cool. Oh and ifyou have ANY questions about the boobies feel free to call me. Good luck I had Langley at week 37!
NIPPLE SHIELD - that's what I forgot! :-) I KNEW there was something else breastfeeding-related that I was missing!
Jamie (the redhead) got me a really cute nursing cover for my birthday, so it's in the bag (not that I'll be terribly modest in the hospital, but maybe) and then I ordered the My Brest Friend pillow instead of the Boppy. I may end up getting a Boppy as well, but I heard really good things about the MBF. I got it New on eBay - I hope it gets here soon!
I'm going to get some cheapo irregular underwear at Big Lots or something that I can just throw away -- I'm not even going to mess with laundering them because I know they'll be disgusting. And I still have to get some enormous pads! :-)
Yeah you won't really care about modesty in the hospital cause your vag. will be on display for hours-- it kinda ruins all of that. I like my boppy but I heard good things about the other as well. They will give you pads in the hospital, I brought my own too but used thiers. Langley came early b/c I kept dialating-- I was 3cm then started having mild contractions. I was 4 when I got to the hospital but not in active labor. The Dr said it could have gone on for days or weeks so I got some pitosin (sp) and he popped right out! (kinda:)) He said it was good he came early though b/c I couldn't have delivered him so easy if he'd been much bigger (I still tore and had to be cut though) Ahh so much to look forward to
My sister took slippers, a comfy gown (skip the pj pants-- they'll come to check you), magazines, and a few snacks. Cameras and such I'm sure you already know. The hospital gave her pads too-- and like 3 nurses went to the bathroom with her the first time she went after delivery, lol. yeah, the modesty quickly went out the window. That AND while she was all on display, the nurses and doctor (a total of 3 people) were hanging out, talking about fundraising. Lol. I was like... 'whhaaaat is this?' apparently just another day at the office!
You'll be fine! Can't wait to see what he looks like! AND to hear what his name is!!! :)
psshht, no need to take underwear, they make you wear those gauzy type granny panties so that you can fit the ice pack in there! im against the nipple shield and i never once used slippers because frankly, you dont want to get out of bed! and i had him natural and wasnt really in that much pain. umm but i did bring a bag of combos and ate those babies the minute i had him and a coke! haha seriously, i was dying of thirst and SO hungry!!!!

All of this just ceased any baby having ideas I might have had running through my head. Indefinitely ceased.
