I've seen some married ladies write that they got offended that their parents didn't remember their anniversary. I guess I really don't get that sentiment. This year, my mother in law gave us a little gift for our anniversary. I'll admit, I thought it was odd

couldn't agree more. Besides the kids part. I don't think kids have to do with anniversarys either. I also consider it rude when people ask what you did to celebrate your anniversary. Do they really want to know?! ;-)
