At my girls's school, they teach the pushke-poor pple idea in a beautiful way. Every class has a pushke, and when it's filled, the whole class troops off to the principal's office to deliver it and get a new one. Later, they will be told how much is in it. ("wow! so much???") There is a bulletin board in the hall which keeps track of the TOTAL for the school (so no competition), and before Pesach, the principal buys several dresses and hangs them up in the lobby, and has the kids "choose" which should go to E"Y to a poor family. (Of course they all do, but the kids don't know that). This past year they expanded the idea, hanging up several items of clothing in a beautiful display, each with a big price tag. As money was collected, a chart showed how many things had been "bought". This really connected the ideas for the girls.
