This is like the people who have "private conversations" on their cell phones at the top of their lungs, in the middle of a restaurant.

Yes, but then I want to sit down and watch it. In this case what I really need is background noise that is only slightly more engaging than music. I need to balance. It has to be tv that is not so good it engages me but not so bad it makes my teeth hurt.
