There were drawbacks to setting up shop in a pirate port, mused Pierre. Such as the dreadful gunfire and cursing, that would go on at all times of night in the streets outside, not to mention the crude comments and rude behavior of the rouges whenever he ventured out on the town.
And yet… there were also the rewards. Such as the beautiful pink chair gracing his sitting room. A gift from the fine Capitaine Sparrow, this object of beauty was all ornamental curves and rich carvings, graceful and elegant, light and delicate.
Unlike its previous occupant, now huddled in a corner of the room. A preposterous ponderance, showy and vulgar, much like the pirates beyond the lacy curtains. But here, inside, all was cultured and civilized.
Pierre preened and puffed, relaxed on his newest acquisition, and nodded to the rowdy streets below. For Pierre was not such a fool as to not realize, that the reason the latest of France’s whimsies had made it to this lawless outpost of the Caribbean, was those very same drunken pirates.
Now, if only his own special Capitaine Sparrow would fulfill Pierre’s latest French whimsies… ah, life would be good.
Very, very good.
