“Captain Sparrow, the Black Pearl is yours.”
The quartermaster and first mate hold their breath as their captain takes the wheel, caressing the warm wood beneath his hand once more.
Alive…vibrant.
The Pearl surges from an unseen wind, her canvas full and fluttering along with her captain’s hands. A dance plays out there at the helm as the two of them reunite with one another.
Ten years he’s waited for his moment, dreamt of it. For ten years he’s been but half a man, his soul cleaved in two.
No longer. Finally free. Finally whole.
“Now bring me that horizon.”
