Why is it so hard for me to make close friends here at college? Is it hard for everyone? It probably is... but it's a little disconcerting when a lot of people have already found good friends and "groups", and I am sitting alone in the basement, laptop on the table, watching my laundry spin around in the dryer. I don't think it's you at all. It's a big transition, college, and you've only been there, what, 2 months? I think more time is required. And I bet a lot of those kids who look they have close friends really don't...casual friends, but not the "let me pour all of my secrets into you" relationship. (not saying that that's what close friend relationships are, but they're similar)

Just try to mingle even more and see what happens. I bet there are tons just like you feeling the same way. =)

I love/miss you! Hang in there!

I should hope I am a high standard friend. :P

It takes a combination of time and luck to make good friends. In Japan, I found Mika (Luck) just before I left (Time). Luck provides soul mates, lovers, and true friends. With only time, I found Nina and Shoshana but they would never be as good friends as, well, you. Instead, they became like sisters.

Good Luck! You have four years.
