Sherlock Convention - VOTE!

chasingriver1 made a comment that has completely shifted my understanding of why people want this Sherlock convention. I had assumed from the beginning it was because of the screening, but her comment made me stop, take stock, and realize that I might be wholly misunderstanding the situation. Agreeing with ChasingRiver1. Panels sound fun, but I'd also like to meet other Sherlock fans. I'm not sure I'd come up from Portland to see a screening, because I've already seen the series. Speaking of which, are dates set for the convention yet? I'm going to try to take a Bolt Bus.

If this was a meetup/mini-con and not a screening, would that also open up other venue possibilities? There might be some good cheaper space in the Seattle center...

The screening is still a big part of this event so no, other venue possibilities for this convention are not available. I would be happy to organize other 'non-screening' Sherlock Conventions in the future, but since the screening has been a major part of this one since the beginning, I am not going to pull it out now. It is an expected and eagerly anticipated event to most of the people interested in coming.

This venue is great for a slightly larger crowd. It's only the theater that is limited to 93 seats. As said before, the Film Center has two lobbys, the theater, and on one day we'll have an additional 'classroom' space. It's also smack dab in the middle of the Seattle Center, so it can spill out into a lovely courtyard area, down the the fountain lawn, etc, etc.

This space also is the cheapest available. Because I work for SIFF, I get a major discount on the rental. Anywhere else would cost 2 to 3 times as much.

"To hang out with other fans" was my option, but anything else added would be great. Would it be amazing to see season 2 on the big screen with a ton of other fans? It would be the BEST THING.
But, it would also be amazing just to chat and be nerdy with some Sherlockians because... we're awesome.

I'm still willing to volunteer and help as I can. I'll friend you so I can keep up with the comings and goings. We should get people together at a cafe and talk shop

Thanks so much! I've sent messages to everyone who indicated they were interested in helping out with the convention. As soon as I hear back from peoples I'll be sending out an email and trying to arrange a time for us to meet up. :) So far you're the only one to get back to me. ;)
