It was lovely. Srsly.
Too bad the times I've been to l'Italia my moments of joy and loveliness didn't have background music like you did. But eh.... I know I'll go back again, so maybe I'll get lucky.
I've been singing the Magnificat since I was a baby bass back in early college. It's one of my favorites. I have the ollllllld (as in 1958-not-stereo-but-MONO) version on Archiv with a very young Fischer-Dieskau doing the 'bass' solos, and the late great Ernst Haefliger (who I was lucky enough to did a master class with once - ::: swoon :::) doing the tenor solos (and the almost-freaky-good Herta Topfer doing the contralto stuff ALL ON ONE BREATH. It's...... almost inhuman.) After I heard that recording, I swore I would someday do the tenor stuff.
And eventually,.... I did!
Congrats. May you do many more of that work, and others besides.
