I snorted tea out my nose after reading this! LOL
I also just learned that the correct phrase is "for all intents and purposes" and not "for all intensive purposes."

Yep.

When I was a precocious little shit (taught myself to read at 3), and before I'd been to a church to hear the words used correctly in a sermon or what-have-you, I would read the phrase

And the elders misled the people....

And think, GEEZ - those poor people! How horrible, to be... misled!
I would pronounce it 'my-zl'd' because... well, that's how I thought it should be pronounced!
I was mortified to learn the correct pronounciation was "miss-ledd". =X>D=

Also, I thought the word 'chaos' was pronounced "Chahh-ohhse".

Again, mortification ensued upon hearing the correct pronounciation of "kay-ahss".

Any wonder why I first became an English major?
And am still a spelling/grammar nazi?
