There's a HOBBY LOBBY IN AVONDALE, AZ

Jan 05, 2007 18:50

guess what I need to coordinate with GMLD....(grin)...perfect day trip outta Sacramento!

next stop, CALIFORNIA.....

although, I did get a mini-hobby lobby fix on my recent trip to the Southeast. The sweet tea is only just now leaving my bloodstream. That means that more must be procured....

Happy New Year and 13 days until FC.....ACK!

you very briefly met GMLD in 2005 when she braved the dealers room at FC...just look for the smoking sandals and I'm glad that both of us have BofA checking...(grin)

I'd like to show her some of the part of the Phoenix area that I've enjoyed too...and polishing off some filet and sake would be a good thing!

Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe I'm just spoiled but I don't quite get the Hobby Lobby thing. We've got three (at least, there may be more) in Cincinnati, and while I like them, they don't really strike me as being that special. Yes they have some of everything, but of the things I've shopped for, it isn't any more special or higher quality or cheaper than other craft stores, and if you want something that's really professional or high grade, you're still going to a specialty shop. Now, I haven't shopped for yarn there, but I do shop for traditional art supplies, and my mom is a big quilter, and Hobby Lobby is ok for all the stuff that Michael's is, but it still doesn't have everything.

I guess it fills the niche of being larger and having more selection than other 'craft' stores, and being more convenient and cheaper than specialty supply stores, but I still don't get crossing state lines for them. Is there yarn selection that good? Please explain it for me.

why I like Hobby Lobby.... mammallamadevil January 6 2007, 18:14:54 UTC
the yarn selection is much better than Michael's and defnitely JoAnn's (especially in California) and they usually have colors that I end up having to mailorder from Herrschner's or other online craft places--which is a pain when you have a project you want to finish NOW! They also have decent prices and the Boye hooks that I like. They also have a nice bargain selection which Michael's (especially around here) usually doesn't have. I've found some interesting new yarns to try...

Plus, I don't need an excuse to go to Arizona, but it's always good to have one....(grin)...I love the desert and so does GMLD...

I have the same issue with In and Out Burgers...I don't consider it anything special (although quite tasty when I attempt to eat one and pay the price later), but there are those I've encountered in the midwest and beyond who think it's the best thing since meat met bun. So, to each their own perception...(grin)...

any place with yarn is fabulous-

even better an IN-N-OUT with a selection of fine yarn
