amazing how good friends come together and I have more net stuff I should send.

Mervyn's won't close until end of holidays, but look for the liquidation sales if you're looking for luggage this fall...

best to you too!

Sorry to hear your favorite store is closing. It's happened to us many times, and it makes us feel like we're losing an anchor.

there's Kohl's and the Commerce GA outlets.. mammallamadevil October 18 2008, 17:52:43 UTC
which aren't crowded....you've seen me shop for clothes. I find something I like, I buy in multiples, it's usually done in 20 minutes.

In fact, I still wear ALL of the dress clothes I bought in Virginia back in 2005...

to a bunch of investors who took the company private again. They've contracted the company mostly back to California. A lot of people found Meryvn's the way I did---in Central California, and Central California has been hit hard by the foreclosure situation...

Explains the various financial transactions surrounding the company well.

I"m gonna miss this one too, the Santa Clara store is a mainstay of my clothes shopping regimen. Not sure what will take it's place. Ross is just horrible, as is the sister store DD's Discounts.

Drat :P

clothing options..... mammallamadevil October 19 2008, 17:08:10 UTC
Most of the clothes I've gotten in the past year have been either at Mervyn's or in Commerce, GA at the outlets. I'll probably use Kohl's too, but yeah, won't be the same.

I'm also worried about the Walgreen's and other businesses (the infamous Country Inn Cafe, China Styx). Anna's Linen's has already bailed...

they had a few in SoCal when I was growing up, but it really wasn't until I went up to Turlock that I got into the Mervyn's habit, so to speak...

I'll be putting my Mervyn's card with my Weinstock's card (and other businesses who have merged/disappeared over the past 15 years)...

I didn't realize Mervyn's was still in business anywhere. All of the Michigan stores closed a few years ago, after a short stint as "Mervyn's California".
