Poll Thanksgiving QuandryD is on a kick about using paper plates for Thanksgiving.  We are hosting it for the very first time this year.

Is that lame to use paper plates?

I don't really think it's ghetto but I don't see the point in using paper plates when you probably are going to be having to wash a lot of dishes from the cooking anyway. A few more plates to wash won't be a big deal in the grand scheme of things so you might as well use the nice plates.

I gotta say, I'm a traditionalist about such stuff -- T'day is the time to make things extra nice, not extra casual!

I'll help do the dishes, if that would help sway D!

Argh. You asked: I have to say, I'm all for real dishes--if you have them. If you don't have enough, I can see the need for paper plates, but I always see holidays as a chance to haul out all the fancy china etc. that we have and never use.

The good thing is that even the best china can be put in the dishwasher if you only do so once or twice a year. It's what we do!

But in all honesty, I'm just going to be so freaking happy to see you guys, I probably wouldn't notice if I was served pie on a old napkin from Subway.

I vote real plates too- but you can get super cheapo nice ones from ikea, if you need extra. I say suck it up and do the dishes- it's only once a year. Plus what, you need a dishwasher? You have two pugs!
