I saw an interesting thing in class this morning. There's a deaf guy majoring in linguistics who's in a bunch of my classes, including my Phonology class which I had today. He has interpreters who sit at the front of the room and take turns interpreting for him, and I often watch them when I get bored. Today I looked over and noticed that his

There was a deaf boy in my class in 5th grade and he had an awesome interpreter. Unfortunately, the boy was kind of a jerk so she was interpreting an argument between the boy and the teacher more than anything else. You could tell when he would use a cuss word because she would look all suprised and instead of telling the teacher what he had said, she would argue with him in ASL before giving in and sheepishly repeating what he had said. Then he would get sent to the principal's office and she would have to go with him.

Fun job, huh?
