...Do you know where I'd be able to find a manual on how to take care of a baby quail?
So far I've been keeping it in an open shoebox with a tee-shirt for warmth. It's been eating rice and drinking water...do you know of anything else I need to be doing?
...And yet again human beings manage to surprise me with their absolute idiocy desu. There actually are people who think that pets can be kept inside a box anywhere outside a Disney movie? Animals are not toys. >.<
(OOC: Of course, in Finland, the biggest problem are "summer cats". *shudders*)
(OOC: People take a pet -- typically a cat -- when they go to their summer cottages in the beginning of the summer. The kitten's so cute, see? And it's fun for the kids to play with it and see it hunt around the cottage and so on. Then, when summer vacation is over and they return to the city, they... leave the cat behind. It's not like they can take it along to their apartments in the city, and besides it'd be so troublesome when it can't just be outside all the time, and it's not even all that cute anymore.
The cat will survive for a while, hunting small game and fending for itself. And then... well. Then it's winter. You've certainly heard me bitch about Finnish winter before -- now image how a half-wild cat will survive it.
Winter is over, spring goes, summer arrives -- hey, yay, it's time for another cute kitten!
And yes, this is actually a huge problem in Finland.)

I... uh... why do you have a quail? Isn't that a game bird?
You could try here for a start. Do you need help? It won't get much nutrition out of rice, you should be feeding it proper bird feed.

Thank you for the site, I will be going to a pet store as soon as possible. It should be all right, but I will notify you if I have trouble.
