It doesn't seem to matter how hard I try, I still seem to have to dig up to break even. Last week was just one of those weeks. Good things happened--the Sox broke the 86-year curse. Hmmm. Montaigne said that the cure should never be worse than the ailment. In many ways I agree with him. He uses an example especially close to my heart when he speaks of a man with a seafood allergy. If the man avoids seafood as the cure, then he has a double curse. He might as well just eat the good food and suffer a single ailment. Unfortunately, while I believe that this view applies perfectly to my justifications for eating the shrimp which affects me so badly, I don't think that it applies in all situations. Although, I suppose that it was a far more effective argument in the middle ages when they were still bleeding people to get rid of diseases. At any rate, I'm glad that you were able to take strong medicines to get better, and I'm glad that your kidneys are okay. And I'm sorry that the child support doesn't appear to be coming, but look on the bright side: it's almost Thanksgiving, and you know what that means. I just hope you have a large working vehicle by then. Freeze a couple for me, and I'll eat them when I ( ... )
