He's on the front porch, idly reading The Three Musketeers and smoking. He's been edgy without a mystery to solve, but he's continued to tell himself he just needs to adapt. He wasn't going home any time soon, after all. Most days, he didn't regret it. For now, he would try some simple escapism and see if that got him anywhere.

The sight of a book is bound to catch Kate's attention, and it's even more likely when that book is in the hands of someone whose presence she is still rather in awe of, and so she pauses on the porch, suspending at least for the moment her plans of going for a run. "Taking advantage of the library?"

He looks up. "Hey, kid. Sort of. It was a gift. Not half bad, so far."

"It's one of my favourites." She grins. "Although Dumas understood astonishingly little about women, for a man who had so many lovers."
