New Years Day was spent at Kenny's, mostly. We slept in and didn't get out of bed until something like 10am. We watched Street Kings (starring Keanu Reeves).
It was less than spectacular, but I guess that's the reoccuring theme with Keanu lately. I'm telling you, either I'm getting old--or movies are getting really bad. No one is trying anymore. There is no dialogue that rings so true, there are no complex characters. Everyone is static, every plot twist is contrived.
I base this on "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Street Kings". But we are supposed to watch some movies this weekend and I have high hopes for them. "Horton Hears a Who", "Kung Fu Panda" (which I've seen), and "Wall-E". So, basically I only want to watch kid's movies...
ANYWAY, some playtime with Bella, some playtime with Chloe. Lunch (pizza) and then he picked up the kids. We all played with some Christmas toys (My Little Ponies, Mercenaries 2 - XBOX, Mortal Kombat v. DC - PS3, Rubiks Revolution, Silly Putty, etc.).
I think the Silly Putty may have been the kids' favorite...they were so pleased when I taught them how to pop a Silly Putty bubble! Oh, and it was color changing so we used my cold pepsi to make designs.
I got a bit down and out, just thinking about life and worrying about the future but I won't recount it all--I think I'll just move on.
I made New Years Resolutions, which is a practice I don't technically believe in or subscribe to, but I made an exception this year because the year just feels so...monumental. Already.
#1 - Learn American Sign Language. This is not to say that I expect to master the language in just this year, but I expect to be quite adept after a full year of study.
#2 - Stay in touch. Yes, this is a resolution. It's not that I've never cared before, it's just that its...I don't know, effort? And I don't want my family & friends to think I don't care...So I'll keep in touch better. Not great....but better. Maybe I can mail out monthly updates on myself.....but who would want to read that?!
#3 - Be less fat. I won't kid myself into thinking that I can get up at 4am and run a few miles before work in the freezing rain. But I would like to figure out something that I can do to...be less fat.
