[The video first focuses in on a cake outside on one of the apartment balconies, sunlight glinting on the gold base and making it shine ridiculously. There's just the barest bit cut out of it, which sits barely touched on a plate to the side. And then the video shows Lazarus, who looks a bit nervous but is smiling none the less.]Oh, ah, hello! I am ( Read more... )

[Oh, Raven remembers you. Lazarus, how interesting.]

...Where did you get them?

Ah, a bakery miss! A fine one, with things of the likes that I have never seen! Such luxury can be found here, it is amazing indeed! [He looks so excited for a moment, this place is just too clean and pretty to not be excited about.]

My name is Raven. [...Since they didn't get to that the first time they spoke.]

This is a really nice city. [If you ignore the whole "kidnapped to an alien world and held captive for 'heroic' purposes" bit.]

Hello again, miss Raven! I'm glad to know your name finally, to be introduced properly! [He's cool, he's just feeling more like a gentleman now that he's got a name to put with her face.]

It is not perfect, not in the least, but it is beautiful, and I have never seen such wealth before! It is like a city of nobles, something out of a fairy tale! And I'll admit, I've been taken in by it, amazed by it's splendor!

[He sounds like a literature professor.]

Is there anywhere like this at home for you?

[He would take that as the ultimate compliment. His lessons have paid off!]

Oh, no, not for people like me, miss. We do not have such food or such comfortable homes. There is nothing to be wasted, nothing extra to be had, and there is nothing so clean and pure and perfect. This city is something of a fantasy for me, and at times I scarcely believe that it is real at all.

I'm sorry...No one should have to go without.

[She hasn't had lack for years, but it still lingers in the back of her mind at times.]

Do not be sorry. We manage well, we always do! There will always be rich, and always be poor, always there will be want and need and hunger. But people survive, and often well, in the worst of situations. That is what makes humans interesting! They continue, growing and changing as they need to, when the world assaults them so.

[He's rather proud of the poor of humanity, the unwanted dirty children who scrape what they can from the scraps of his world's wealthy. They are flowers from the pavement, forcing their way to life when there should be no hope. And he cannot stop loving them, despite their flaws, for how they never give up.]

I know, and I'm sure everyone is...fine. I still wish it never happened to anyone.

[Breaking into Charles' mansion to find food was the best thing that ever happened to her. She wishes it could be the same for everyone.]

Anyone with a heart wishes that, I think. None who have good in them truly can turn a blind eye to suffering, or enjoy a meal when others have nothing. And that is why we must always work to do what is right, to make sure that the suffering are comforted.

[He sighs, and then he feels a little silly.] Such dark conversation, when I only sought to offer you sweets.

I think we're all in a bad mood right now. [She shrugs.] It's okay.

We'll get through this, dark skies can't stay forever, not in the sky or in the heart.

You're right. It's hard to remember, sometimes.

It is, miss, so hard. We keep our pain close, because it keeps us safe. The memory protects us, so we might not be hurt again so easily. But sadly so, it also keeps us from healing too. So it's best we try to remember, and to find the good where we might.

Ah, I'm not so sure about that. But with age, you learn a thing or two I think. But thank you so much for saying so.
