[ When Belle turns on the video function of the device, she can be seen with her hair partially tied back and a pen tucked behind her ear. She had been in the middle of studying and taking notes from books she had borrowed from the city library. And at the time the video had shown up on the network the young woman had pause din her reading to go make tea so she had noticed it. Her expression was a sympathetic one as she shakes her head. ]

I'm sorry but... she isn't here. The device you're holding? There should be a way to look up names of people who are residing here in Mandalus. [ There's a split second pause before she adds hastily-- ] It's the name of this city. Mandalus, that is.

[The news somehow doesn't surprise her and Mary Margaret nods a little bit, frowning to herself as she looks over the device a bit better.]

Oh. Well, do you know-- I mean, could you explain what's going on?

I'm not sure if I'll be very good at it, but I'll try my best. [ It isn't much but she offers her an encouraging smile before nodding and finding the right words to explain. All the while she can be seen walking, making her way to the kitchen of her apartment, assummingly to make tea. ] From what I can understand, this world is a place between others, that the ruling bodies have pulled us from to come to. There is a threat of sorts that is endangering not only this world, but our own respective ones. It is so that we can help protect this world and, in turn, learn to save our own.

[ Belle looks away for only a moment to set on the kettle, ehr expression now somber. ] And that is why we are here. Or at least, that's the explanation given.

That... is a really strange explanation for everything, but I think I understand it. Thank you.

[She smiles then, and looks around a bit.] So, now what? Is there a battle for me to join or am I supposed to help some other way? They gave me a card and said it was a key...

I must say, this is an unexpected turn of an events. Had I known you were arriving, I could have given you a proper welcome. [ Rumpelstiltskin grins. ]

A proper welcome? I'm not sure I'd even want to know what you consider a proper welcome.

[She sighs at him.] Can you explain what's going on, at all?

You are a Queen, are you not? Things should be more regal for you. [ Oh yes, he's enjoying this far too much. Including the hand gesture. ]

We've been brought to another world. [ Rumpelstiltskin leans forward on the counter he's in front of, looking down at the phone. ] One that isn't Storybrooke or the Enchanted Forest... by some magic that not even I understand as of yet. The people who brought us here expect us to save their world to in turn save ours.

And, given our extremely delicate circumstances, I don't require any sort of payment for this exchange of information. Consider it on me, Your Highness. Although, I doubt you'll want this world to know who you truly are.

I'd rather things weren't regal at all. It seems I was brought here to fight, not to rule. I'm not Queen here, I'm another warrior, like everyone else.

[She frowns a bit at the full explanation, and sighs slightly after a moment.] Thank you, Mr. Gold. I'm sure it won't matter if people find out who I really am. It doesn't change anything, does it?

[Say hello to the metal man, Mary Margaret!] C-c-can't say I know anyone named Emma Swan, but I can tell y-y-ya yer in Man-duh-lass!

[She blinks a bit, then settles in quickly enough. She's seen plenty of strange things, so she'll manage not to stare.] Do you know much about this war we're supposed to fight?

[malfunctionbot]

[Geez, everyone is always asking about this stupid war. Rabbit has had enough worrying over what might not even occur. A puff of steam rises from his cheek vents.] Can't say I know m-much 'bout that either. It's all pretty hush-hush from what I can tell.

Oh. [She pauses then gives a smile.] Well thank you for the welcome anyway. I'm Mary Margaret. What's your name?

Ah, the city is called Mandalus. I'm afraid there's no one by that name here, to my knowledge. [Brows furrowing, he makes to offer her a smile.] Has anyone explained just what it is we're here for to you?

Thank you for helping anyway. [She smiles back, and nods a little.] I've been told about the war, but I'm not sure what it fully means. What are we warring against?

[Merlin straightens up at that, scratching his chin.] It's hard to say, exactly. At first I believed it was the group that brought us here, but as time has gone by, it's.. evolved.

To my knowledge, there is some creature known as the Serpent, and it has the power to conjure monsters, raise the dead.

Well, that's not strange at all. [She chuckles lightly, trying to keep the situation light, even if she doesn't quite feel very light inside right now.]

So, the Serpent is an actual snake? An animal?

[alwaysfindshim]

I've come to realise. It's not the best situation I could have hoped for, but I suppose I'll help if I'm needed. It's the only way to get back, after all, isn't it?

Maybe those in control are allowing people to go home to tend to situations they know are coming up. It's probably something we might never know.
