Really now?

[Brace yourselves, folks. The newcomer on the feed is giving everybody a very, very stern look, boarding irritated.] You help to stop the world from ending once and suddenly everybody expects you to work the same miracle for their own apocalypse.

At least back in Icarus, their goddess had the good sense to ask nicely before spiriting us ( Read more... )

[ Congratulations, Anathema. You've caught the attention of one Desmond Miles. Barely anyone knows his ancestor's name, so how do you know it? ]

Altaïr... isn't here. [ His eyes narrow. ] How do you know him?

[Oh come on Desmond, she just got here, don't look at her like that.]

He isn't? [Don't mind the way her expression falls at that. Really, she probably should have expected as much.] I know him from Icarus. He's a....he's helped me, on more than one occasion.

[ Nope. All the judging. ]

No. He left a while ago. [ Which still sucks, but his ancestor has stuff he had to do. He gets it. It just... sucks. ] Icarus. Let me guess, it's another world that holds people hostage for reasons of either fighting a war or experimentation.

Less "hostage" situation and more emergency recruitment, really. [Yup. Stern face again now. She just ranted about this dude, why does no one listen.] Granted, I didn't expect volunteering would mean I had to be whisked away right that very second, and....

And what do you mean he left? How long ago? [She just talked with him only a few days ago. In Icarus. Where they had both been living for months and....seriously. What.]

A situation like this has happened to you before? [The apocalypse, the kidnapping, she's interested in either, really.]

I must sadly admit that I'm becoming distressingly well practiced in this sort of thing now, yes. [And doesn't she just look thrilled about it....]

And are you well-practiced enough to get out of it?

If I could get out of it, I doubt that I would be here. I'm still not even sure how they pulled me out of Icarus.

You're tellin' me that some people actually ask for this kind of thing? [A little doubtful as he scratches his head.] Man, that actually sounds nice - least there's some answers before the questions right there.

[Siiigh yeah, she shouldn't be surprise people are doubtful, if they all had the same welcome she just recieved. But hey, forced, still highly irritated smile is go!]

It's certainly something they could learn from, here.

Maybe you can whip 'em into line. Never know.

Guessing you have the whole spiel memorized by now?

Perhaps I will. [Getting chastised by a scrawny teenager, that'll have them shaking in their boots alright.]

I think I have the basics down, if nothing else. Can't say I much like it, personally.

I know a few who should take that reminder on manners to heart, honestly.

Did anyone explain anything?

thebooksaysso November 15 2012, 00:43:49 UTC
That doesn't surprise me in the least.

Only bits and pieces, from those....people, that I woke up to. And I draw the line at fighting somebody else's war. [....well. Any war, really, but.]

The world is full of them, right? [A slight smile.]

As much as I can relate to that sentiment, it's not a luxury any of us have here. It's either we go along, or get dragged into it anyway. And right now, as things stand? Hanging off to the side isn't an ideal move, miss.

Anathema. Not miss. And ideal move or no, that is where I put my foot down. It doesn't matter what the cause, it only creates far more problems in the long run than it solves and I'm not having any hand in it.

If they don't approve, they should have found a different witch.

That depends. Do the people around here often get sick?

Sick. Ill. I'm afraid I really can't make it more simple than that.
