[ Kaidan is restless. He needs something to do. If he had his way, they'd be back home, working on the Reaper issue. But without that being an option, the least that could happen is something to preoccupy his time here. He needs to keep an eye on Shepard, he knows that, and he is. But with nothing to do, nothing to work on or fight, well. Kaidan's ( Read more... )

[Shepard finds Kaidan, when he's busying himself on the Normandy, and for a minute he can't help smirking to himself. He knows that the other man has problems with him. They've had their share of shouting matches, and still he can't help but torment him a little bit.]

Afternoon, Alenko. Hard at work, I see. [And the smug little expression shows just how much he wants to irritate Kaidan.]

[ He stops still as soon as the commander's voice reaches him, unable to keep the scowl from curling his mouth. He knows Shepard wants to irritate him, it's basically what he does on a daily basis, and it doesn't help that it's so damn easy to do. All things considered, it's a wonder Kaidan has any sort of patience toward Shepard at all.

He lifts his head, mouth pressed into a thin line as he sets his attention on the commander. His tone is curt when he speaks. ] Much as I can be, anyway. Don't you have something to do?

[Shepard steps up beside him to see what he's working on, purposefully leaning a bit too close to Kaidan, and shrugging a bit at the question.]

I've finished everything I needed to get done today. Is there a problem, Kaidan?

[ He doesn't try to hide what he's working on from Shepard - no need to hide that he's modifying his lashes, really - but he does lean away from the commander, his scowl deepening. ]

Your concept of personal space, for one.

[Well, whatever you were searching for Kaidan you're about to find an engineer. Or be found by one, rather. Jaci might have a supply pylon handy, but she's concerned about other equipment- what does this place use in place of medi-gel? for example. Determined to find out and be ready for..whatever the hell is supposed to be coming, she's gone out into the city to see what's readily available (and maybe less-so-readily, if need be).

When she sees him, she thinks nothing of going over and placing a hand lightly on his arm so she doesn't sneak up on him. Hey, they're fellow alliance soldiers; it's all good right.]

Major Alenko. Find anything useful out here?

[ The touch isn't as welcome as it might usually be; he pulls away more roughly than normal, frowning at Jaci when he turns to see her. He may be stuck working with Shepard and whoever he can until they can find themselves a way home, the most temporary of Alliances if he's ever seen them, but it doesn't mean he's about to get friendly with Alliance personnel. ]

Same things, different day. Doubt we'll get anything useful from this place. [ He looks to the city around them, more tension in his body than usual. On a good day, Kaidan wouldn't be so wound up, but his patience is running short with this whole situation. ] You think they'd at least make sure we're ready for their 'war'.

[WELL. That was weird. Then again, it's not like they're buddies. And he's a biotic; those guys are always weird, if her team is anything to go by. So Jaci makes a mental note to be sure not to touch Alenko any.]

..Is something wrong, Major?

action;

[ Kerrigan has been wary. Hence why she's sitting outside the Normandy, out in the loading bay of the Spaceport. Her hand idly taps the rifle that is between her legs. There's something wrong and she can't really pin it down. Something is off - not the way it's supposed to be. There's a stillness on board the ship she's been wrestling with to call home. It doesn't really feel like home now. It's more like how life became under Mengsk. Rigid, strict, and the sense of an impending battle over head. Even though her visor is on, Kerrigan still looks up at Kaidan. ]

[ He stops when she addresses him, giving her a curt nod. She may have been recruited by Shepard, but Kerrigan hasn't rubbed him the wrong way yet, so he doesn't mind her presence so much. He notes the visor and rifle, though, wonders if she feels the idleness as much as he does. ]

Kerrigan. Anything of interest out here?

No.

[ She pauses and tilts her head up. ]

It's bugging you too. [ A statement more than a question. Sometimes it's good to be a mind reader. ]

[ He's not going to bother denying that, because even if she weren't a mind reader, the tension he carries is pretty obvious. What he has to question, though, is - ]

What's bugging you?

[ The odd thing about all this, Kai Leng, is that Kaidan might look relieved to see you for once. Or maybe nothing so dire, but he's definitely not being as standoffish and curt as he usually is with T.I.M.'s right hand man. Not to mention, with where they're from, the colors of Kaidan's wardrobe today are pretty blatant - black, white and yellow. He can't help the small frown at the title, though. ]

Getting away from the ship for a while. There's only so much a guy can take. [ He looks back over his shoulder, scowling vaguely in the direction of the space port. ] Especially when you're dealing with Shepard.

[ IT WOULD BE if Kaidan remembered ever being in a relationship with Shepard! Kaidan can see the tenseness, but doesn't think much on it at the moment. He can't help snorting at the question, crossing his arms over his chest. ]

How funny he thinks it is to bother me constantly. If The Illusive Man didn't want him so bad, I would've put him through a bulkhead by now.
