[Ezio's hood is pulled up, and behind him is simply a stone wall with a dark red curtain hung to his left side, and while he should probably look solemn, he can't help feeling relief in some way. He supposes that it's because Desmond was worrying so much he wouldn't be there to do what he had to do, but he will be now, and not a moment too soon.

[ She wanders around aimlessly, already trying to come to terms with a very certain truth before Ezio gets on to make his announcement. She had tried looking for Desmond. Came up empty, same as she did when she joined the search for Ezio when he had been taken. Only Ezio's name hadn't disappeared. Desmond's isn't in her phone no matter how long she keeps periodically looking at where it should be.

Her wandering takes her to where Ezio is and she stands there, shoulders slumped. She's quiet, not a peep, but there's tears streaking her face. ]

[Ezio gives her a fond look, as she arrives, and he reaches out to lift her chin. Brushing fingertips over one cheek and the backs of his knuckles over the other, Ezio wipes away her tears and smiles lightly.]

It is alright, bambina. Desmond has a very important task to do at home. I think once he has finished, the System may well bring him back to us.

[ Now she actually lets out a sniff, a few more tears falling freely. ]

I ... I know. 's just still real sad. We don't ever get to say goodbye to folks no matter how long we've known 'em here. Or good luck or 'ya tell those Templars what'. [ She looks up at him with watery eyes. ] Ya really think they might bring him on back once he's all done?

I know. I think that, in a way, it is a blessing that we do not have time to say goodbye. If we did, we would never let go of the people who need to be set free. [He smiles a bit more.]

Anything could happen. They need him, I think. If he does not return, we will continue as always, and our fight will be in his name.

[At the news of Desmond's disappearance, Clay is hit with a myriad of emotions. He's upset his cousin's gone. He's glad Desmond's gone home to do what he needs to do. But there were so many people here that met Desmond, that became friends with him. He can't imagine how Desmond's little woman is gonna take the news, or how anyone else is going to deal with it. Clay? He's going to drink.]

If you need me, I'll be at the bar.

[The bar that Desmond had started working on but hadn't gotten the chance to finish yet.]

Do not drink so much you cannot get home.

If you need me, I will be here. [And that was all he really needed to say. Clay would be upset, he knew that. Ezio was upset too, but he was older, wiser, and knew sometimes you had to lose people for the greater good, no matter the pain it caused.]

Or you could get yanked home, too.

[It's not difficult to tell the bitter tone of Clay's second statement. Anyone could leave here. That was part of the danger of getting close to people here.]

[ Helen tilts her head ever so slightly. ] Off to save the world, I take it.

[He smiles a little.] Most certainly. And he will, because he is ready.

[ A smile spreads on her face. Oh, Ezio. She doubts you're perfectly alright with this. Even if you are masterful at hiding your emotions. ]

[Having been spending the past few nights with Desmond at the Villa, Kate figured that Desmond had gotten up early and that's why he wasn't in bed when she woke up. She's not a needy thing, and neither is Desmond, so she went about her morning business. Went for a jog, shower, breakfast, etc. Kate comes back from a quick errand and as she's entering the Villa, her phone buzzes. Seeing Ezio on the screen, she frowns, heading for the room he's in. Until he says the first sentence. Desmond Miles has returned home. something inside Kate breaks.She's been staying with Desmond since Ashley Magnus arrived in Mandalus. She told him stuff felt weird and he said she could stay with him. No, not that she could. She would. He said that she was going to stay with him at the Villa until she changed her mind. And then she was just....living with them, like nothing weird had happened

[The noise is what alerts him to her presence and Ezio doesn't miss a step as he heads from the room and over to her. He knows how much they loved each other. He's been that deeply in love. Perhaps he's that deeply in love with both Helen and Sofia, in very different ways, but he knows the pain of lost love as well. He remembers losing Cristina, first to his own foolishness, and then to the embrace of death.

Without a word, Ezio wrapped both arms around Kate, guiding her towards a room where she could have privacy to cry if she needed to. Machines could be replaced so he merely left the phone where it was shattered, and he took her into the room quietly, closing the door behind him.] Shh. Andrà tutto bene, young one. It will be okay.

[Kate looks up and over at Ezio. She doesn't say anything but her eyes are brimming with unshed tears. Wordless, she let him lead her into the room and she shakes her head.] It's not okay. [When she speaks, her words are hushed. Anything louder than that and her throat will clamp down on itself.

Kate knew, deep down, that it was bound to happen eventually. With Kate's luck how it is, she was damn lucky she had him for the length of time that she did. She only regrets not telling him...not telling him how much he meant to her. Not saying his name more. His real name. It seemed like it was a rare treat to him sometimes, from the way his eyes lit up when she said 'Desmond'. Kate shakes her head again and repeats:] It's not okay.

[Ezio wrapped his arms around her, not knowing how else to comfort her besides a hug. She certainly looked like she needed one, and he was still set on being a father figure for her, after Helen left for that brief time in Aliunde. It was better that she cried rather than holding it all in, and he rested a hand on the back of her head, sighing softly.]

I know, but things will turn out well. Desmond has... a very large task to take on. It is his destiny, and he deserves the right to fulfil it. [He wrapped his arms a little tighter around her then, his own eyes stinging a little.] But that does not mean we hurt any less for the loss, so cry if you need to, tesoro. I am here for you, little as that may help.
