So once again I am at work with a bit of downtime - what better time to remember that I have a LiveJournal?
Tail end of 2008:
* "Team bonding" dinner at Jim's Greek Tavern - I'm so glad my co-workers are rad
* Did the majority of the cooking for Christmas Day - I think it was pretty well received
* Did some post-Christmas shopping but everything here honestly pales in comparison to NYC :/
* Saw Benjamin Button, it was good but my butt was numb afterwards
* Spent NYE sitting on the couch looking up dumb stuff on the Internet and not even realising it had hit midnight until about 5 minutes later (NYE is overrated anyway)
Start of 2009:
* Me? Attend a 20/20 cricket match??? Friends and mid-week beers were involved, so sure, why not!
* Had a catch-up dinner at Kri Kri, followed by copious drinks at Madame Brussels. A great night!
* Kristen and I took Mum on a winery tour for her birthday - much tipsiness and giggling ensued
* Went to the Dropkicks gig on what must have been the HOTTEST NIGHT EVERRRRRR, sweated my way through an unbelievably awesome set, then got stuck in the sweltering carpark elevator for 5 minutes after the show
* Got a sweet haircut but now the back of my neck gets cold
* Went to my first farmer's market and now I am HOOKED
* Had a GREAT birthday weekend which consisted of kicking back with some Happy Hour drinks after work on Friday, drinks at Workshop on Saturday (one of the best nights out I've had in a while) and then feeling like death on Sunday, followed by dinner at Tokyo Teppanyaki. The best bit was when the chef kept pelting bits of egg at Rory :D
* Went to see Alkaline Trio and Saves The Day; I was expecting STD to disappoint but they were actually really good, and Alk3 killed it - pity about the lack of encore :(
* Went to Soundwave and now I have tan lines which are going to last AT LEAST a year. :S My two highlights of the day by far were Face To Face and Dillinger Escape Plan, holy fuck what a show!!!
2009 will be the year of:
* catching up with old friends and attempting to make new ones
* going out to more events and not being as much of a hermit as I was last year
* trying to figure out what I want out of life, what I want in a job and what kind of direction I want to go in in general
* possibly going overseas again, somewhere close by
* learning more about food and wine
* learning more about fashion and what looks good on me
* losing some more weight
* possibly buying a house...? EEEEEEEEEE
I still miss New York terribly. Qantas is offering return flights for $1360 including all taxes and surcharges, and it is so damn tempting.
I still miss Lucky terribly. Tomorrow it will be 5 months since he was put down. He keeps showing up in my dreams - not doing anything out of the ordinary, but he always seems to be hanging out in the background, running around and stuff.
Dad sent me this photo; apparently it is from some time in 2000/2001. I don't remember when this exact photo was taken, but I remember so many similar moments from over the years. I miss my pup :(
Tonight I am finally going to get to see Watchmen. I am nervous.
