you should TOTALLY learn though children's books. i do that a lot with teaching science and social studies. when i had to teach about rainbows, it involved lots of physics stuff i didn't understand, but i could explain it now! i <3 children's books. :)
Have you read The Legacy of Luna? It is more nature appreciation, than lots of facts, but it is amazing. It is about this woman who ends up living in a giant redwood to keep it from being chopped down and is way better than it sounds. My friend Drew loaned it to me before a train ride and I didn't really want to read it because it seemed way too hippieish, but once I started it I read the whole thing in one go and cried.
you are so, so, so, so lucky to get to be outdoors. not a day goes by that i don't think to myself how much i hate being in cincinnati, or any city for that matter. as john denver says "There was something in the city that he said he couldn't breathe. There was something in the country that he said he couldn't leave" .... i hope to get back to the country someday, and i hope that day comes before the city completely suffocates me!
