I wonder if this is a generational thing--us simply wanting to be different from out parents--or a turning point, where the ultra right-wing conservative views of our parents' generation has finally reached a point where we can longer support the older views. I tend to think it's the latter.

That's a pretty good article. I got frustrated during the election when there were churches who pretty much said that if you don't vote for McCain, you aren't a Christian. (I would have been equally frustrated had they said that not voting for Obama means you aren't a Christian, but who's going to say that? :)) I think perhaps younger Christians are starting to realize that there are more issues than just abortion, that we need to be focusing on helping the poor, loving people, etc. During the election, our church did a series that I really liked about issues that are important to God and should be important to us when picking a leader, and those issues were more poverty and social justice-type issues. I appreciated that instead of just telling us who to vote for, they were trying to show up what the Bible says and let us make our own decision.
