Hey, as long as no-one was hurt, all the happened was an inconvience. Also, you're insurance will rarely cover you for an accident. If it had been their fault (like they made an left into your lane right in front of you (like I did to that lady)) then you'd contact THEIR insurance company for compensation, which is likely what they did for you.
I'd also be lying if I said I never panic-braked while behind another car. On the way to AC, I forgot during a pit-stop that the road I was on was a freeway not a highway, and suddenly had a car in front of me at a red-light. I slammed hard enough on the brakes that I couldn't steer into another lane. Stopped short of him by about 6 inches, after leaving molten rubber along the road.
Whatever though. Sorry to hear about your perdicament. I've been on my feet from sudden loss of a car twice now... and both times it sucked balls.
