FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

⇔     How do the dead work in Desai?
It just happens. Due to a lot of things that happen behind the scenes with the Desai government branch of MDEA [Multi-Dimensional Exploration Agency], the dead can come back to life at the start of their gameplay. How they react (with surprise, like their death never happened, etc) is up to you. UPDATE ON 6.30.09:Resurrections from in-game death must have an explanation (you can blame MDEA for everything) but this should never be abused./update

⇔     How do we know where in canon we should pull the character from?
I'll reassert the above MDEA doings, but I prefer that you work it out to make all your kids come from the same point unless the crew agrees it's okay to pull something wild. If you app your character from one point of their canon, and then once you join, you figure something else out with the crew (like you want to match your character to the time, most likely, that the rest of the crew is rolling with), that's cool. Just stay true to the canon!

⇔     You keep saying "canon", but isn't this game AU [alternate universe]?
Yes and no. Your characters are living out their canon lives back home, but as though the city of Desai has been present in each world anywhere up to seventy years. Life continues on as normal with the occasional off-world visitor on most worlds. But when you come to Desai? It's a mish-mash of all worlds inside the old culture of the city itself.

⇔     Do you accept original characters here?
Not yet. Please check back later!

⇔     What about duplicates of characters?
Like the five hundred versions of Batman (cartoons, comics, movies, your mom, etc)? NO duplicates. Even though people argue that Leon from Kingdom Hearts and Squall from Final Fantasy VIII aren't really the same character, I view them as such. By applying as Squall, a player automatically has claim over both entities. So, if after a while, the player doesn't know where to go with Squall? After consulting me (AIM is spindrift devil), a reset and revamp to Leon would be allowed.

⇔     How do super powers work here? Do our characters have their powers dampened?
No. Your characters are at full capacity in Desai unless a player chooses otherwise. I trust players to be mature and realistic about their characters' abilities, and not to Gary Stu/Mary Sue up in here. Even Superman has multiple weaknesses that can take him down. If a complaint is filed about power abuse to me, I will sit down with the offending player and talk it out as discreetly as possible. Proper steps after the first warning will apply. If this becomes a game-wide issue, I will create a circumstance in-game in which powers are dampened temporarily, albeit indefinitely. I'm hoping we don't need to have this happen.

⇔     Does Desai have mod-run plots?
Only by request. I might pop in from time to time to the official chat to ask if people want me to do something, but because Desai is player-driven, plots are primarily in your hands. I ask that the rules are abided by when it comes to mod approval!
UPDATE ON 6.30.09: Yeah, I didn't keep to that. Every week or so will host anywhere between 1-3 plots that last for varying amounts of time, mod created and run generally. However, if a plot was recommended by a player, credit will always be given where credit is due.

Anything that's communication through e-mail and IM that's between CHARACTERS goes here! Use the following format:
WHO;
WHAT;
WHEN;

IC contact information is here!/update

⇔     If you make a mod-post, can I ask something game-related there, albeit unrelated to the post?
Mod-posts are made to get opinions on something, generally, but I never ever deny you guys the opportunity to ask questions! The only thing I ask is that if it's aggressive, or potentially drama-causing, that you bring it to me in private. If Desai is going to stay a drama-free zone, let's keep these things to just involved parties. I'm ALWAYS willing to hear you guys out, okay?

more questions to come as i get them
