We have all done several watches now, and each shared plenty of squee, comments and thoughts about the Naval Romance (Some good, some bad; most completely cracktastic...) - but can you remember back to your first ever watch? What was it that went through your brain then? So I put it to you, fellow Aubreyad fans:

What was your very first reaction ( Read more... )

I don't remember when I first watched it, but it was a VHS video 'cause I hadn't wanted to watch it at the cinema. I had two main fears: HOW are they going to butcher my beloved POB and OMG it'll be Hollywood History.

I was blown away by it - the cinematography, the acting, the writing, the music. The Marines... :D

I would LOVE to see it on the big screen one day. *sighs*

My mother made me watch it - because she had seen in on tv and loved it. So she bought the dvd.
And I was like - muuum, it's about a ship. What do I care about some ship? oO And she was like, but it's awesome!
I think she only convinced me with Paul Bettany. I'd probably watch anything which has Paul Bettany in it. ♥

And then I watched it and was completely thrilled and I loved it! Russel Crowe and Paul Bettany had AWESOME chemistry (even better than in ABM) and it had hurt/comfort and I loved all the small stories and details and the side characters and everything. I was really biting my nails and crying about all the guys that died during the movie. And I totally started slashing Stephen and Jack and looked out for subtext (and found quite a lot ;P).
So awesome experience.

I lost count of the times i saw it in the cinema, i was lucky enough to see if before everyone else due to working as a projectionist, so for days and days i raved about it to anyone and everyone before they got a chance to see it. i always remember that whenever i had a spare five minutes i'd pop my head in the porthole and watch a couple scenes (Not the most comfortable way to watch a film!) but i always seemed to catch the scene where stephen got shot or calamy died, and it always upset me for the rest of my shift :(
