#20 is "Leatherwing Bat" and I know it because it was on the "Peter, Paul and Mommy" children's album that I BEGGED for when I was four because it had Puff The Magic Dragon on it.
That's where I learned Leatherwing Bat, too, though it came up here on the Duhks cd Your Daughters and Your Sons.
As for the list ... it's a biased sample in some ways, but in other ways it's accurate. I was raised on Woody, Arlo, and Peter, Paul & Mommy ... The course was set pretty early. And the mostly-terrible pop I listened to in the 80s and still have a soft spot for isn't on Sol's server, so I don't have to own up to it publicly. ;)
(*sings softly to self* It's the final countdown ... Shot through the heart, and you're to blame, you give lo - o - ove a bad name ... Till now, I always got by on my own ... Just another Manic Monday ...)
(oh hoh! I got Sol on the Final Countdown ... maybe we do have some overlap there ... heh)
Since there's so many I know, I'm sure I'll like the rest, so I'm looking forward to hearing what they are.
2) Emile Benoit: Christina's Dream/Tootsie Wootsie (have you seen the music video at ambermusic.ca?) 7) I Got A Bonnet Trimmed with Blue. Minnie White? This one's in my queue to learn on fiddle. 8) Miss Gilhooley's Party, by the Mahers Bahers. In live shows they tend to make a point of looking for "young ears" (even in the pub) and, not finding any, sing "shagging about" instead of "fooling about". 12) The Privateer, by Jean and Christina. Unfortunately they don't sing this one live, probably because they need Greg Walsh and he lives around the bay. It's the most beautiful from either album. 13) Sonny's Dream, by just about everyone. Who sings your version? 18) Captains and Ships, Fergus O'Byrne. He was asking at one point if any listeners could tell him what year all these ships were in port at once; I wonder if he ever found out.

Damn, I thought there was no chance in hell anyone would get #2. Well done! (And the video's still up? We downloaded it years ago, but I think it's trapped on the hard drive of a defunct laptop at this point.)
4 is right ... I think 3 is actually Genticorum singing the song they named themselves for, but I don't know either song well enough to know whether they're the same/versions of the same song.
These are the songs (and in some cases the particular versions) that came up:
1. The plooman he's a bonny lad, his mind is ever true, jo Jim and Susie Malcolm, "The Ploughman" from Jim's cd Acquaintance
2. Say it when you're ready! Emile Benoit, "Christina's Dream/Tootsie Wootsie," from his album Vive la Rose
3. Mon père a fait bâtir maison Genticorum, "Genticorum," from their album Le Galarneau
4. There lived a lady by the North Sea shore, lay the bairn tae the bonny broom Old Blind Dogs, "The Cruel Sister," from their cd Close to the Bone
5. Cold wind on the harbour and rain on the road, Wet promise of winter brings recourse to coal Stan Rogers, "The Giant," from his album Home in Halifax
6. As Jack went walking in London city, all the people thought Jack wasn't witty I think this one was the Punters, "Jolly Jack" from their album Said She Couldn't Dance (I have it on a couple other cds, but I think this was the one that came up
( ... )
19. Flyin' cross the desert in the TWA, seen a woman walkin cross the sand The Punters cover of "Brown-Eyed Handsome Man" from their cd Fisherman's Blues
20. I, said the little brown leatherwing bat, I'll tell you the reason that The Duhks, "Leatherwing Bat," from their cd Your Daughters and Your Sons
And the last one? Dougie MacLean, "This Love Will Carry" from his live cd.
