... can anyone find a phrenologist currently operating in the state of Michigan? The closest I've come so far was a novelty thing from some historical fair in Chelsea. Isn't phrenology quackery that even the quacks have abandoned ( Read more... )

Interesting!
I find the tax on coin-operated machines to be a bit odd... photo-booths, payphones, and coin-op lockers? weird.
I feel kind of bad for the employees of the businesses - I could see how the difference would come out of their tip (cost of massage was $55, is now $58, but might somebody still just give the guy $65 and be done with it?)

I don't think of a coat-check as a business that really runs books or keeps records... a great candidate for tax fraud? Actually a lot of them are free, you just should tip the dude, so maybe no tax then.

My conclusion? Michigan is weird.

The tip thing was one of the first things I thought of, too. And the coin-op machines tax? That's pretty much got to come from the business because (for example) 25-cent lockers aren't going to become 26.5-cent lockers.

The best part? We don't know whether Harmonyware fits under the new tax or not. If it does, it's likely to be a royal pain.
