I'm just puttering around online at work. It's been pretty quiet this morning and I figured "HEY! This is a chance to do what I said I was going to do and actually update this damn journal on a semi-regular basis!" So here I am, and here we go ( Read more... )

gah. horrible memories. my mom had gallbladder issues, too. she was rushed to the er at melrose-wakefield, where they did the surgery the same way they did your dad's. her gallbladder had already started to turn gangrene, though... which caused a big issue, and caused poison to run through her body, and then she had a big reaction to the anesthesia, and ended up on a breathing tube for a few days... she was in the ICU for about a week and half... and then they moved her to a normal room... but my mom's diabetic, and the hospital let her sugars get way out of control, and she got ketoacidosis, which is a condition diabetics get which means that acid basically starts eating at your organs... so she ended up back in the ICU until they got the sugars back under control. She was in the hospital a total of 22 long long days.

and to boot, this all happened toward the end of my sophomore year... so despite dealing with all this, i had to deal with finals and packing to go home for the summer as well. i have no idea how i made it.
