Mandy and her mother had a holiday tradition ever since Mandy had graduated from Hogwarts that they would spend some days baking cookies and other holiday treats for their family and friends. Mandy always loved the bonding time she was able to have with her mother. They were able to talk everything out while they measured and kneaded the dough. ( Read more... )

Mrs. Kirke had been busying herself in the kitchen, preparing herself for the madness that would ensue the following week. Family gatherings were never a small affair. Her brother made a much bigger deal out of the holidays since her late husband passed away when Drew was thirteen, insisting that they should be together. Thus, a tradition had been born. The families never spent a holiday apart again.

When the knock came to the door, she set aside her half dressed pie and wiped her hands on her apron. She headed to the living room and pulled the door open.

"Mandy, dear! I wasn't expecting you," she said, stepping aside immediately to let her in. "What brings you by today?"

Mandy smiled when the door opened, very thankful that Drew or one of his siblings hadn't answered the door. This was already weird enough as it was for her to just show up at his house she didn't need to see him right away. She was quite certain she would enjoy just being around company.

When she let her in she smiled and stepped in and looked around. Of course it was all decked out for Christmas. Mandy lifted up the arms to show the four baskets she had brought along with her. "Mum's got me out delivering the treats today. I figured I could get four out of the way here. I hope I'm not intruding anything. I'll be quick I promise."

"Been doing a bit of baking?" she mused, waving Mandy in towards the kitchen. The living room, while decorated high and low, was a bit of a mess. Wren had promised to help clean up the empty ornament boxes and pine needles but of course she hadn't.

"I'm just getting ready for the big day. You know how Drew would complain if I didn't have an apple pie waiting at the dessert table."

Mandy followed her into the kitchen. She set down the baskets and took off her gloves off. She kept her hat on because it just went with the outfit. "Yeah, mum still likes to keep this tradition going. She's got me apparating all over the country today to deliver. I have yours here, one for Drew, one for Terry, and one for Daphne."

She nodded at the mention of Drew, "I certainly understand that." She looked over at his mom and smiled, "You really raised a good son there. I really appreciated him going to the holiday party with me. It was nice to have a friend to go with and not be the only person showing up alone."
