This is really really lovely. It's seems so sad at the start - that the world is passing Yuna by and she regrets not having anyone to share it with - but you draw such a good link between the two girls with this: She knows what Mao eats, what music she likes, what she does to relax, that she doesn’t have a boyfriend. Yuna has a whole team of people, from her coach to her manager, who tell her about her rival. It seems strangely intimate. Like they’re keeping an eye on her lover.

And it does feel oddly intimate and right at the end, that they would have a moment where they get each other. I really enjoyed the story, thanks.

A lot of this was inspired by those softer world posts on ontd_skating - there's a lot of melancholy in skating. It's great fodder for fic.

I really enjoyed the story, thanks.

Thanks for reading. I'm really pleased you liked it. :)

This is so thoughtful and lovely. The quiet regret of the earlier section - "We’ll never be this pretty again" - work really well with the sweetness of the end. ♥

Thanks. I think ice skaters are a little bit tragic - a brief moment in the sun and then they're too old to do what they're best at anymore. It makes for good fanfic fodder (and it sort of attracts me to the sport - weird).

Glad you liked the story. Thanks for commenting.:)

Yuna doesn’t know what to say. She feels her heart in her throat, that moment before stepping on the ice. She has an overwhelming urge to take Mao’s hand and run.
I love this story, this moment and this line most of all.

I like that line too! I like the idea of them just taking off and running (or just toying way too seriously with the idea). I've been scribbling at another story that riffs on this theme.

Thanks for reading and commenting and stuff. Glad you liked it. :)
