Was Verizon not a kiosk, but an actual first-party store? I prefer to deal with the company directly for anything cell-phone. Kiosks and third-party dealers are thieves.
I have not researched Verizon, but I really like T-Mobile. their myfaves plan is $40 plus taxes, for 300 minutes, but night/weekends are unlimited, and you get unlimited calls to/from any five numbers you get to pick. We have Access-a-ride for travel in the city, and we're on the phone with them all the time, so I use mroe than 300minutes a month just calling them, but their local number is free with my plan.
right now I've got two phones (one that I don't actually use), with 700 minutes and myfaves, and It's costing me $100 a month with taxes/fees.
My personal experience with Verizon as a landline customer is that their customer service sucks. But that was years ago.
My Verizon service has been flawless. I've had it for a little over a year. I added a second phone for Wendy in February. Family share with 1400 minutes unlimited text, free nights & weekends. My monthly bill has been $150 with taxes, etc.
