Hi everyone!
Firstly, I'd like to apologize for the delay in updating avatars, and ask you all to bear with me some more. My tablet is faltering and I have no means of drawing in the items at this point in time. I will try to get it fixed ASAP, but... um... yeah. I'm sorry.
Round 03's results posted, it is time for Round 04.
There will be a bonus stage this round. Iconing will not be required, it's just a guessing game. :3 Expect it tomorrow, as usual.
Do note that this, and all subsequent rounds apply for BOTH Senior AND Junior leagues. Everyone must submit icons under the same guidelines every week.
And without further ado, on to Round 04!
ROUND 04: I SUGGEST IT WAS...IN THE...WITH THE...
This round is based on
Cluedo (Clue in North America).
Last round there were all of these murders happening. People dropping dead left and right and whatnot. Well, THIS round we get to play detective! Who do YOU think was the murderer?
Let's play a little game of Clue, shall we?
Clue/Cluedo is a board game that involves a mysterious murder. In the game, the players' objective is to find out who the murderer is, the weapon they used, and the room the murder took place in. Some of you may be familiar with it like me and it might bring back childhood memories like mine. And if not, well, you should play it for it is an awesome game.
ROUND DETAILS;
Participants may submit up to 3 icons. However, submitting all three isn't necessary. Whether you do have to submit all three or not depends on how well you can combine the three themes. Read on.
The idea of this challenge is slightly unusual - you have to use three themes in your icon(s), but you a) have to pick one theme under each theme pack; and b) have to use all three theme packs.
What this means is that, basically, you have to use 3 elements when iconing. The unusual part is how you can use those elements. You can either combine them into a single icon, or you can spread them out among different icons. Though... good luck combining everything into a single icon, it'll be difficult. XD;
In other words: You can make one icon with 3 guidelines. You can make 2 icons, one with 2 guidelines and the other with only one. And you can make 3 icons, each with one guideline. The 3 guidelines you choose have to be one under each pack.
DO note that you don't have to NOT use the other guidelines in the same pack. For instance, for pack #02 - your icon CAN have white negative space AND show one female character in it AND have a border... there's no restriction for how many themes under each set you use, as long as there is one visible theme from the sets.
If it's not clear, just ask!
Anyway! Among all the murders last week, one stood out. An upstanding man called Dr. Black was found murdered inside his estate. And it's up to you to solve the mystery.
You have to guess who the murderer is. Pick one of the guidelines under Theme Pack #01.
You have to guess which weapon they used. Pick one of the guidelines under Theme Pack #02.
You have to guess which room the murder happened in. Pick one of the guidelines under Theme Pack #03.
THEME PACK #01: THE SUSPECTS
Every murder isn't complete without its own list of suspected murderers, correct?
Correct!
Who do you think was responsible?
Colonel Mustard - Your icon must be predominantly yellow. This means... yellow enough that we can tell yellow is the main color. It can be different shades of yellow, of course.
Miss Scarlett - Your icon must be predominantly red.
Professor Plum - Your icon must be predominantly purple.
Mrs. Peacock - Your icon must be predominantly blue.
Reverend Green - Your icon must be predominantly green.
Mrs. White - Your icon must be predominantly monochrome (shades of gray/white/black).
THEME PACK #02: THE WEAPONS
This theme pack makes the least sense No murderer can kill anyone without an appropriate weapon. Therefore, you have to guess which weapon they used to kill poor ol' Dr. Black.
Revolver - Only one character can be portrayed in the icon, and they have to be male.
Dagger - Only one character can be portrayed in the icon, and they have to be female.
Lead Piping - There can't be any human characters in the icon.
Rope - Your icon has to have a visible border on all four sides. Half-borders and such will not count.
Spanner - The icon needs to have white negative space. Ripped paper borders, half-borders, anything that has visible amounts of pure white will count.
Candlestick - The icon has to be non-100x100. That means its dimensions have to be non-100x100. Negative space or transparency does not count.
THEME PACK #03: THE ROOMS
And of course, every murderer with a weapon needs the ideal crime scene. You can tell by this theme pack that I did have a good idea for this round but in the end it got kind of lame It is up to you to find out where this crime took place. Use your mad detective skills, and tell us if it was in the...
Kitchen - Your icon needs to have food in it. It could be something small like candy, or it could be an icon of food specifically. Anything you like, as long as there's something edible somewhere and it's visible.
Dining Room - Your icon needs to be themed family. Have two characters that are related, or something similar. I couldn't think of anything better for a dining room, shut up. ;_;
Lounge - Your icon needs to be themed relaxation. A character chillin', or a caption that says "relaxed", someone sleeping, meditating...
Hall - Your icon needs to be themed entrance. A character standing on a door, walking into something... yeah um yes.
Study - Your icon needs to be themed work. A character busy with something, in a work uniform...
Library - Your icon needs to have books in it. It could be one book, or a bookshelf, or just be an icon of a book. As long as there are books, it's game.
Billiard Room - Your icon needs to be themed after a game. Any game! It could be themed after playing cards, or board games, or videogames. Using images from videogame characters does not count - it needs to be themed after the game itself.
Conservatory - Your icon needs to be themed music. Musical notes, instruments, anything goes as long as it's musical!
Ballroom - Your icon needs to be themed dancing. A character dancing, a caption that says "dancing" somewhere, two characters waltzing... whatever goes.
As always, keep in mind this is a manga challenge and all icons are made from manga images. No doujinshi, no fanart, no artwork of your own - official manga or manga artbooks only.
You can convey the given themes through both text and imagery, and keep in mind they are open to interpretation, always.
If you have any questions regarding what you can/can't do, just ask!
