Summary: During a concert rehearsal, Nino gets into an accident…
They were supposed to be performing at Tokyo Dome right now.
Aiba smiled widely as he spread his arms out like wings and flew around Tokyo Dome. Arashi’s newest song was playing out of the speakers, the lyrics and beat just racing through his veins. They were currently rehearsing for Arashi’s concert tour which was going to begin in three days. They had to make sure that everything went smoothly.
As the song was building up to its climax, Aiba changed his direction and headed towards the center of the stage. He let out a laugh as he accidentally crashed into Sho a little as he landed. Giving Sho an apologetic grin, he looked around to take in everything.
Jun was on his right, giving directions to the lighting crew to darken the stage more. Sho was on his knees, just looking relieved to be on the ground again. Ohno had just landed, looking exhilarated and more awake than he usually did. Aiba grinned even wider as he looked up ahead and waited for Nino, as he was the last one to land on stage.
It all happened so fast.
Suddenly one of the ropes that were attached to Nino had snapped off and Aiba looked on in horror as he saw his fellow member falling down. Aiba could have sworn that he felt ice run through his veins as he heard the loud crack that sounded when Nino’s head made an impact on the floor.
He prayed to God that the cracking sound was from the floor and not Nino’s head.
Nino rebounded from the floor and sprung back up like a yoyo. Nino’s body went up and down a few times, thankfully not hitting the ground again when it went down. Aiba could faintly hear Jun and Sho’s screams for the harness guys to stop the ropes. There was another set of high-pitch screams somewhere that a part of Aiba was wondering where they were coming from.
Aiba felt someone hold his hand and without turning his head (he couldn’t look away from the scene even though he really wanted to) he knew that it was Ohno. Aiba could tell that Ohno was trying to tell him something, but for some reason Aiba couldn’t comprehend what the other was saying.
Slowly, Nino stopped bouncing and his body hung about a foot off the ground, looking like a lifeless horror movie puppet with blood dripping down from the top of his head all the way down to the floor.
Ohno suddenly came into his line of vision and Aiba finally shifted his gaze away from Nino to Ohno. Arashi’s leader had an unusually serious look in his face but Aiba could see the tears that were close to falling in his eyes. The older man shook him by the shoulders and screamed something at him. Finally Aiba understood what the other was trying to say.
He was the cause of those high-pitch screams.
Aiba shut his mouth immediately and the screams finally stopped. Aiba looked back to where Nino was finally let down and was lying on the floor with Sho, Jun and some other crew surrounding him. From the angle, Aiba got a clear look at Nino’s face.
Nino’s face was pale white with a nasty purplish bruising on his forehead. Blood streamed down his face in about four to five trails, some passing through Nino’s closed eyes. His closed eyes were what scared Aiba the most.
He was afraid that he would never see Nino’s bratty but lively brown eyes ever again.

“Here.”
Aiba thanked Sho as he took the cup of coffee from the older man. About one month had passed since the accident, but to Aiba it felt like it had only just happened yesterday.
Nino was sent immediately to the hospital with Jun with him in the ambulance. After Aiba had looked at Nino’s broken face and body, he had passed out in Ohno’s arms. Ohno and Sho decided to stay with Aiba until he woke up and took a separate car to the hospital later.
Arriving at the hospital was not an easy thing. Paparazzi had somehow caught wind of the accident and dozens of news crews were camped out around the hospital. Aiba just wanted to scream at the cameras to leave them alone, but fortunately he was still in a state of shock so he had just stayed quiet as he was led inside by security.
They met up with Jun in the waiting room and spent the next few hours (although they felt like years) waiting until a doctor came out. Nino’s parents arrive at the hospital as soon as they heard the news about their son (Sho was always responsible like that) and the doctor informed them of Nino’s current state.
Nino physical state was a mess. He had many bruising and cuts from his crash with the floor and from where the harness had held and practically strangled him with. His left shoulder was dislocated and he had a few cracked ribs from the flinging of the harness. Some of the ropes even managed to get tangled around his neck a bit, causing rope burns. But the biggest injury was to Nino’s head.
There was a huge purplish-bluish bruise that covered Nino’s entire forehead and top of his head. A huge stitch ran through the middle of the top of Nino’s head all the way down to his forehead- the doctors assured them that the short crack in Nino’s skull would slowly mend itself out.
The doctors had found out that Nino was also suffering from internal bleeding in his head. Thankfully, it was only minor and the doctors managed to clot the bleeding before there was any more blood loss.
The doctor told them that Nino was in stable condition. The only thing that they had to worry about was that Nino was currently in a coma.
And there was no way to knowing when- or if- he would wake up again.
For the next few weeks, there was always at least one Arashi member at Nino’s side at all times. Each member was so afraid that something would happen if none of them were there to watch their little bratty member.
During the first week, Nino had a few seizures. It happened twice during Aiba’s shift. Aiba never considered himself as the religious type, but he had prayed for hours after those episodes.
Aiba was currently sitting on a chair next to Nino’s right side. He sipped his coffee as he looked around the room.
Sho sat on the chair across from him, on Nino’s left side. He had just come back from News Zero so he was still wearing his suit. He was flipping through the channels on the TV, probably looking for a news channel. Jun was lying on the couch at the side of the room, taking a short nap. Aiba knew that Jun was the most protective one in Arashi and knew that their youngest member probably didn’t get much sleep these past weeks. Ohno had a drama filming today, but Aiba received a text that their leader had finished and would be coming soon.
Aiba looked down at the sleeping boy on the bed. Nino was still pale with many wires connected to his arms, chest and head. The cuts on his skin had already healed and the giant bruise on his forehead was already a healing yellow color now. In two days, Nino was scheduled to have his stitches removed.
Ninomiya Kazunari, member of Johnny’s group Arashi is still hospitalized at Tokyo Metro Hospital after a freak accident that occurred during one of their rehearsals for their cancelled concert tour last month. Ninomiya-san is still unconscious with multiple injuries. There is rumor that due to these tragic turn of events, if Ninomiya-san does wake up from his coma he would no longer be able to perform in the group’s activities. Rumors also say that there are currently secret auditions going on for the newest replacement for Arashi-
“What the fuck is that?” Sho spat, changing the channel automatically to a drama. Aiba looked at Sho, surprised because the newscaster rarely cursed and angry because of what he heard on the news. “People can be so inconsiderate. They would have to be idiots to believe those rumors.”
Aiba nodded as he looked back at Nino, gently reaching for the pale hand in front of him. “Don’t listen to them ne, Nino-chan? Of course no one could replace our loveable, cheeky brat. When you wake up, your favorite hamburger will be waiting for you.” Aiba assured the other, trying to hold back the tears that wanted to fall down.
The room was quiet for a while; the only thing that could be heard was the TV and Jun’s snores. Sho finally broke the silence as he said, “It’s not your fault, Masaki.” Aiba didn’t look up at Sho, knowing that they already had this conversation a few times before.
“I know.” Aiba whispered.
“But you don’t believe it.” Sho countered, crossing his arms.
“If I didn’t suggest to fly around the dome-“
“-Then Nino could have gotten hurt some other way.” Sho cut in. Aiba looked up at Sho with helpless eyes. Ever since Nino’s accident, he had felt immense guilt. He was the one to suggest that the member’s would fly around during that song.
“He’s right.” Sho and Aiba turned to see Jun sitting up, rubbing his eyes as he looked up at them. “It was an accident. It could have happened to any of us- even you. If you think it’s your fault, then it’s also mine since I okayed the idea.”
“But it was still me who suggested the idea in the first place!” Aiba wailed, feeling like crying. Again. He had been crying for the past month already. Frankly, he couldn’t remember a time that he didn’t want to cry anymore.
“No it’s not.” Jun said firmly while Sho nodded his head. “You weren’t the one who messed with his harness, right? It was only an accident.” Aiba shook his head and went outside of the room, not wanting to talk about it again.
He stood next to the door, taking a few deep breaths. The hallway was empty so Aiba finally let his tears fall as he slid to the floor. He hid his face in his knees and cried.
He always hated hospitals. Since he was a child, he had always visited them because of his weak constitution. He held no good memories in hospitals and always tried to avoid them like the plague. But this time he wasn’t the one who was sick- he was there because his best friend was hurt. And that was definitely one hundred times worse than anything that could happen to him.
Aiba felt someone sit next to him and wrap a comforting arm around him. Without looking up Aiba knew who it was.
Ohno Satoshi, leader of Arashi. Known for being the best singer and dancer in Johnny’s. Had hands that Picasso himself would die for. With a calming aura and a stance that anyone could depend on. Full of surprises and could make the impossible possible. And most importantly, Aiba’s lover.
Even now, Aiba couldn’t quite believe that Ohno had actually said yes to his confession.
During the years that they had known each other, Aiba and Ohno’s relationship was the most mysterious among Arashi. People have said that they were the most unassociated with each other than the rest. At most, they were like acquaintances, friends and sometimes like brothers because of their similar tanned skins.
But Aiba knew that they only came off that way because they didn’t want anyone to see more than that. Aiba was very respectful of their leader but tended to get shy around the older man. And Ohno cared too much for Aiba to ever get mad at his hyper member. But because the both of them were known for being the most tennen in Arashi, they never knew the others feelings.
Until one night where after filming a special for Arashi Ni Shiyagare, Ohno and Aiba ended up sharing a hotel room for the night and one thing led to another, Aiba ended up confessing his feelings to the fishing leader. Beyond Aiba’s wildest imagination, instead of a rejection which he had prepared for, Ohno had smiled at him and kissed him.
It was one of the best moments of Aiba’s life.
They had told the members about their relationship in the greenroom, just before they had to go out and rehearsed for their concert- the same time where Nino’s incident happened. Aiba was nervous about the member’s reactions, but the night before, Ohno had held him in their bed (Aiba was so ecstatic when Ohno suggested moving in with him a few days ago) and gently whispered to him his favorite words, “We will be alright”. Ohno usually told Aiba those four words since they first met and it never failed to reassure him.
Sho reactions showed that he was a bit awkward, but soon he smiled happily at them and told them that he would support them. Jun had looked disapproving at first but after reassuring him that they were serious and it wouldn’t affect their friendship and Arashi, Jun soon accepted them and wanted to help out with decorating their new house.
Nino had the least reaction to them. He just looked back and forth between Aiba and Ohno with an unreadable expression on his face. After a while, he continued playing on his DS, not making any further comments.
Nino’s reaction was actually the one that Aiba cared about the most. He loved everyone in Arashi, but he had known Nino the longest and despite Nino always teasing/bullying him, he knew that they were the best of friends out of the rest. Also, it was no secret that Nino was close to Ohno as well.
After Nino’s reaction to the news, Aiba couldn’t help but feel a little hurt and a bit afraid that maybe Nino had been in love with Ohno himself and felt like his best friend had stolen his love away.
As Aiba’s cries started to die down, he looked up from his knees. Ohno wiped his face with his handkerchief that he had with him. After a few moments of comforting silence, Aiba whispered, “Nino isn’t in love with you.”
They had this conversation before, around the second week when Nino was hospitalized. Ohno had told Aiba that Nino definitely didn’t love him that way and Aiba had believed him. But he just liked to be reassured every now and then.
“Yup, he doesn’t love me.” Ohno told him confidently, bringing him onto his lap and giving him a big hug as he rested his chin on the other man’s shoulder.
“But you do Ohmiya SK together. You guys look happy together.” Aiba said, just playing with Ohno’s hands. He knew that Ohno knew that he held no jealously in his voice at that statement.
“We are happy whenever we do Ohmiya SK together- it’s a special skit to us.” Ohno agreed, shrugging. “But because of it, we definitely knew that we wouldn’t love each other like I love you Masaki. Me and Nino are like brothers…wait, more like twins. We have a special connection to each other that no one will understand but us. We love each other, but we will never be in love with each other.”
“He’s my best friend.” Aiba said, leaning down on Ohno.
“I know. And he knows too I’m sure. “
“He didn’t look too happy when we told him about us.”
“He was probably irritated that we didn’t give him special treatment and tell him before Sho and Jun. He probably wanted to show off how he knew first before anyone else.”
“Sounds like Nino.” Aiba smiled, looking at Ohno as he gave the other a sweet peck on the lips.
“Feeling better?” Ohno asked, tickling Aiba a little on his sides.
Aiba giggled and he squirmed away from Ohno. Ohno just held Aiba tighter to him. “Yup. I guess these past few weeks were wearing down on me.”
“Hm…a month has passed already.” Ohno murmured, smiling a little sadly at that.
Aiba gave a small sad smile of his own as he looked at the door which held their unconscious member. “He’ll wake up soon, ne Oh-chan?”
Ohno nodded. “Yeah. He definitely will and everything will be alright. We will be alright.”
…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…
Aiba always loved it when Ohno said those four words. They were his favorite phrase from his lover (besides I love you and let’s have friend chicken today, anyway). Because he knew that Ohno would never say those words if he didn’t truly believe that they were true.
After almost one week later, Nino started stirring in his bed, making Aiba yell excitedly to the others. Ohno went to Nino’s left side while Aiba was on his right. Sho had left to get Jun who went to get all of them some coffee at the cafeteria downstairs.
Aiba held onto Nino’s hand, looking at the others face as he saw Nino trying to open his eyes. Ohno had dimmed the room a little to make it easier for Nino before going back to the bedside opposite of where Aiba was standing.
Sho and Jun had come into the room where Sho went to stand by Ohno and Jun put down the coffees he held and went to stand at the foot of the bed.
Finally, Nino managed to open his eyes and the first thing Aiba did was burst into tears. He had never felt such immense relief as he did at that moment.
Nino blinked up at them, slowly trying to take in his surroundings. Aiba was crying loudly at his side with Ohno immediately going to him to wrap an arm around his lover. Jun was smiling widely at him, obviously trying to keep his tears at bay. And Sho had also lost that battle and was quietly crying on his other side.
Slowly closing his eyes a bit since they weren’t used to the light yet, even if it was dimmed, Nino quietly murmured, “Head…hurts…”
“Yeah, worse than any hangover you’ve had before huh?” Jun laughed, a few tears falling down against his will.
“…Harness….sorry…” Nino whispered opening his eyes again and looking up at them.
Ohno shook his head and smiled at him as he took the hand that wasn’t around Aiba and gave his hand a little squeeze. “It’s fine now. We will be alright.”
And they were.
