I just bought a Windows notebook to play Sims 2. And, of course, re-purchased all the Sims games in Windows format to do so. Happy tax refund day ( Read more... )

Enjoy your luxury! Everyone should have a Mac and a Windows laptop. (Though I'd be happier if you'd found a DS... have you? Have you?)

OK, I'll bite. How is the Sims like picture-reading manga?

(But we need to get you back to picture-reading real manga so you'll talk to us again. Or play Phoenix Wright, at least!)

PS I am sorry to report that I'm responsible girl this year. I put my tax refund into the e-fund. This cannot last.

Don't hate me because I'm lame.

How is the Sims like picture-reading manga?Aww, you are the nicest person. Keeping in mind that The Sims offers open-ended gameplay, so what I'm really saying is "how I play the Sims is like picture-reading manga": it's all about guided storytelling. When I "read" a manga, I get the broad strokes of plot (or what plot?) and characterization from the author, but I have to fill in most of the details. Which is why I can "read" a porny short story and find it romantic. 'cause everything my world comes from love. *flower burst* Woooo ( ... )

I don't hate you, but I can't lie: I'm a little bitter. :( Not that I begrudge you your obsession hobby, I just wish you would come and play with ours, too. Or read manga again. Post about your Sims, even! (Actually, I think I would really like this. I like the idea of Sims, I just know I can't play it because I'll get sucked in, so I like playing vicariously.) I just miss reading your posts. ...Not that I'm Miss Post Every Day...You know what? I really miss back when we would hang out in g_defend all the time. ;_;

I cannot tell you how much I miss the halcyon days of g_defend. But I'm kind of glad you and Sara aren't summarizing anymore, just because I can't participate in the community. Reading about manga in any forum usually ends up with a reference to scanlations and downloads and copyright violation, and that drains all my joy.

Post about your Sims, even!

Eeep! I am loved! I've been reluctant to do so 'cause who would be interested, but...maybe I'll give it a try. I'm in love with my current iteration of the game and would happily babble about it.

I like the idea of SimsWe are so different (except when we're exactly the same). The idea of Sims creeps me out. Kind of like Second Life does. There are so many aspects of the community that feel a wee bit off to me, like the emphasis on self-Sims or celebrity Sims. But you should play! I don't know that the story aspect of the game would draw you in the way it has me, but I do know that creating for the game -- that is, the aesthetics of designing hair and clothing and architectural elements -- ( ... )
