Random thought #1: Avatar is over? WOE!
• In retrospect, I think Boiling Rock and The Southern Raiders were told in the wrong order. I know, we needed a way to get rid of the adults (again) so Team Avatar could go to a play save the world with youth power, but Katara's resentment of Zuko should have been tempered by his field trip with Sokka. Not hug-level tempered, maybe, but how do you hate so much on the guy who just saved your dad?
• The writers of Avatar would like you to know that sucking the bending out of someone and saving the world has profoundly changed Aang. Unfortunately, his new maturity somehow comes across as sadness to me. I just stop watching after the gang critiques Sokka's painting.
• How am I supposed to interpret Ty Lee's fate? In The Beach, we learned that she joined the circus to stand out from six sisters who look exactly like her (she was a septuplet? What a quirky background story). In the finale, she joins the Kyoshi warriors...who all look identical, courtesy of face paint and a uniform. (Also, I can't decide if Ty Lee is crushed on Zuko or if that's just part of her need to have every male in the immediate vicinity pay attention to her.)
