Gah! If I don't post NOW, I won't have a post for August and I'll have broken my New Year's resolution. So here are the bullet points ( Read more... )

highlighted how resigned to clutter I have become

It sounds like you've had the weekend I had last year at this time, heh. I haven't been back to any real cleaning projects since, but I didn't feel the need -- it's true there is still clutter, but there just isn't much I can do when I have no place left to PUT things. At least the inside of my closets haven't gotten any worse since then. [because, you know, they're already full.] The clutter overwhelms sometimes, but I am not especially looking to get rid of much at the moment, so I will have to live with it until I stumble upon some fortune and can get myself a roomier place!

Good for you for being motivated though! I also wish you good luck for continuing successes in your year of health discoveries. I have at least started to exercise again this month, which is a pretty big deal.

(Also, bramageddon made me giggle.)

I'm not actually having a major decluttering. I'm just tackling projects one weekend after the next in 90-minute bites. Mostly because I need to do work work, but also because if I told myself I had to clean EVERYTHING, I would wind up cleaning nothing. So I'm staying away from books and video (which, as always, need repurging), because they just take too long.

I actually managed to go to the Y every day

Awesome, good for you.

Awww, thank you for italiquoting the positive when I was all focused on the negative. (Seriously, as I feared, breaking the cycle meant I didn't go back to the Y for the rest of the summer. YoH: September has started out much better.)

My next plan is to tackle the kitchen, where dry and canned goods have taken up permanent residence atop the refrigerator and microwave.

But...isn't that where they're SUPPOSED to be? I mean, really, what else is that space for?

Well, I can see why they would stake a claim atop your cute midi-fridge. On my fridge, they just look messy, block access to a cabinet, and guard large colonies of dust. I very much want to make my apartment less friendly for dust. (That's right, dust bunnies. I'm calling you out. We are enemies!)

To avoid losing BBCA after the next hike, you can always call the company and threaten to switch providers. Chances are they'll reduce your rate to keep you.

Thinking of one's bras as a "herd" makes me feel like mine are too crowded in their drawer. Do they have enough room to roam freely and graze?

I can't believe you have a herd icon. (A sparkly, Twilight-vampire herd icon, but still...)

Also, no. They are penned in the bra drawer like veal, the poor things. But that situation should improve after I've moved the coat rack that blocks the half of the dresser drawers that contain doujinshi which will be purged or moved to the filing cabinet. *whew* Decluttering is like a ... what's the word for those gizmos where you knock one domino down and suddenly a whole chain of events is set in motion? Well, it's like that.

The bras will never be free range, though.

To be honest, I amazed myself with that one. (The thanks go to mereflair and her Harvest Moon addiction, though. I would link you to the original art, but I can't find it now.)

Rube Goldberg Machine! And yes, it sadly is. Cleaning one area just makes you realize how much more there is to clean. :(

(Will I hate laundry less if I think of it as letting my clothes out to get some exercise?)

I hope you're getting workman's comp as well as codeine for that shoulder!

Sounds like a lot of productivity, all round. Glad Cancer Scare is behind you now. *hugs*

Looking forward to hearing about September!
