Not lame at all. It's realistic. Vegan diet is notoriously low in iron and other nurtients needed for about 40% of pregnant women. She recognized the need and fell back to a life style that could support her needs (and cravings).

Also, she didn't go back to eating meat at all. She simply resumed eating eggs and dairy - neither of which are exactly chock-full of iron. So either way, the "dietary necessity" reasoning for her going back to a non-vegan diet doesn't fly, at least in regard to iron consumption.
