The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The truth is, like it or not, our the safety of our nation requires drastic measures. There are evil people who want to harm Americans, and it's the government's job to make sure that doesn't happen. When people like you try to water down the security measures that could save lives, in the name of civil liberty, you don't help Americans. You hurt them.

What gets me is that much of the stuff in USAPATRIOT wouldn't be so bad if it were carried out with judicial oversight rather than by executive fiat. Updating surveillance statutes to deal with cell-phones and such=good. Letting the TLA's do whatever they want and making it a crime to even question their activities=bad.
