Katie and Allie, with the help of Greg, just raped my room. Literally rapedThey tore things off the shelves and down from the walls, shoving everything into garbage bags, as they took turns pinning me down to my bed, throwing things over my head to each other and eventually into the garbage piles, while I screamed out "I'm going to kill you!!". Firsty, we did not RAPE your room, we LIBERATED it from the dusty crap that had coated its very being. Secondly, as harsh as it may have seemed it was so necessary as having that much dust, hair, and general grime sitting on shelves, sinking into toys, and floating through the air is DISGUSTING and bada for respiratory health. Thirdly, throwing stuff out and giving stuff away doesn't mean you are throwing away childhood memories, it means you are making space for stuff that is actually relevent to your day-to-day life and giving yourself a clean, calm sanctuary of a room that you may really enjoy. Finally, HOW THE HELL DID YOU EVER LET IT GET THAT BAD????

fine fine, some of the purging was necessary...but all my stuff?? not even a few items to remember the whole lot by??

it took me seventeen years of hard work, indeciveness, and emotional 'am i going to miss this? i'm totally going to miss this/this could be used in the future' to get everything in my room. what am i going to show my children when they ask about my childhood now?

and the boa is cool. you know it's cool.

(ps i still have lots more room to cover!!)

Allie and I came up with a memory alternative on the way home. However, even if we hadn't, keeping what was in your room and showing it to young children would have caused them to die due to the bacterial growth and mites that are undoubtedly inhabiting every neglected beanie baby and dog figurine.

The boa was probably cool when you got it. It may still have been cool if it had been kept carefully sealed in a plastic bag or something, but I think touching it gave me a rash. I'm not kidding I am itchy from being in your room.
