I thought I was going to school for music or phychology, but ended up liking my english classes the best. I had always liked reading and writing. I think literature is important because it is a way to engage in dialogue with other people and ideas that you couldn't otherwise. And i have some writerly aspirations, even though lately I write more critical than creative work. I took a class on feminism because it was one of the only courses I could get into and ended up loving it and minoring in women's studies. I think, in a lot of ways, that movements for social justice like feminism and literature have the same goals--to open our eyes, to make change, to start the words and the conversations.

I so apologize for giving you that book that I gave you for Christmas that one year. I tried to read it this past year and could not get through it for the life of me. Eeeesh.
