Dental Trauma!

Nov 14, 2003 10:12

About 6 months or so ago, whilst eating a rather soft Opal Fruit (Starburst is a crap name methinks) one of my back teeth decided it would be best to break virtually in two....

This baffled me, but as is only ot be expected, I ignored it and went about my merry existance. Recently the old tooth had been getting a tad sensitive so last night I went to a dentist for the first time in 5 years. I'd never really needed dentists before - never even had a filling!

Now it looks like I may have to have a cursed root canal

The dentists surgery was a good deal more modern than the shabby one I was used to in Bangor, I sat/lay on this motorised couch thing that looked like something outta the Matrix. Neat. The dentist started poking around the 'aul gub, reeling out her mysterious lists of numbers and letters in Dental lingo (Dentistese), but then broke from her derranged Dental blabber & said "oh dear!".

As if the "oh dear" wasn't enough I was then asked a series of rapid fire q's of an increasingly alarming nature....

" Any allergies?"
"Mild hayfever, nothing major"

" On any medication?"
"Not currently"

" Been in hospital recently?"
"Last year, back complaint."

"Is the couch ok for you, is your back ok now?"
" Yes thanks, its fine"

"Are you known to pass out during operations or are you known to bleed excessivley during surgery"

"Aaaaaaaargh!"
