Have you read Poul Anderson . Also, PA and Gordon Dickson wrote a series of short stories about the Hoka, aliens who look like little teddy bears and are totally literal-minded. Hysterically funny.

I Am Legend! Important, very important in vampire lore (and no shimmering). The movies? What movies?

Teddy bear aliens sound very entertaining, but I haven't read about them yet. :)

And I'm afraid I did see the I Am Legend movie and haven't read the book... to many people's horror.

Please do not see the movie. I saw the first two versions and learned me lesson at last.
