I'd say that it's not worth getting it officially diagnosed. People can claim disability from having bipolar disorder and it can be a huge hindrance in having a career or any sort of job. My birth dad was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and now he lives off of the state and doesn't have a job. He hasn't had one for years and he doesn't get very much money from the state so I don't think it's worth it. Besides, I'm sure most people would rather spend their time on more useful things than sitting in a trailer getting drunk. (Again, still talking about my birth dad.)
Ultimately, it's still up to you.
