Appearance:
Standing at 6'2" and weighing a slight 150, Komui is tall but fairly thin. He has broad shoulders and long limbs. His jaw is slim yet set, and his nose is petite and feminine. His features are soft and gentle, and he was often poked fun at in his youth. His hair is naturally black, but from the time he colored it purple in college, it seems to have held a slight sheen of the unnatural color. It naturally flips out in the back, and he normally keeps it slicked back but a few locks frame his face. His eyes are a pale blue, which compliments his pale I-don't-get-out-enough complexion. Resting upon the bridge of his nose is a pair of slim glasses in the shape of an upside-down flat-based pentagon.
He's very font of simple clothing, normally clad in white, grey, or black, though he normally wears white. He's very simple with his clothing and has a tendency of buying two or three of the same style of shirt so he doesn't have to choose what he is wearing very often. More often than not, he wears a simple white beret to keep his hair from falling in his face when he's busy. He's normally clad in a white coat with special designs, which he created himself during his sewing phase in high school.
Personality:
Komui, in a nutshell, is the crazed professor who knows how to procrastinate and gives students strange assignments to keep them busy. He's often running from his work, which is never fun enough, and complains of hand-cramps and feeling cold when forced to sit at his desk and grade papers for hours on end. Normally running, he takes shelter in his scientific basement, messing around with chemical reactions, though his heart is drawn to Physics. Some nights, when stress becomes too much and he wishes not to have others working around him up for long periods of time, he'll lock himself in the basement and attempt to create a new piece of machinery to make life easier. He calls these the Komurins. His Komurins are functionable, but they always have one major flaw which has an unlucky streak of coming out and causing chaos; and Komui is oblivious when it comes to this, unless it involves his baby sister Lenalee.
One of the most obvious things about Komui is that he loves his sister almost more than life itself. He would do anything for her, as proven when he dropped eveverything to get her. He treats her like a doll when he can, and always feels safer knowing he can see her or know where she is. If she's injured or sick, he will spend as much time away from the office as he can to visit her, and once created a machine--which held similar features to him--to sing her to sleep if he couldn't be there. Unfortunately, when he already knows she's safe, or if he's too caught up in rescuing her and in a technological mind-craze, she will have to snap him out of it, by landing her boot atop his head (multiple times) and tell him to "meditate on this" as punishment. And sometimes she destroys the robots. When he's away from her, as he has been for a while, he tends to become a tad depressed and whiny, often pining for his little sister or sniffling at his desk. He likes to write her letters, or at least draw pictures for her on paper he would write letters on, but he knows she's fine, so he tries not to be as overprotective as he would be if she were with him.
He likes to whine about things, from his precious Lenalee to his dear Komurins to the dreaded, awful paperwork. It gets annoying, he knows, but he does it anyway. He typically acts like a child when he does, and he loves skipping down the halls when he's not working or hiding or running off to build things. Komui is much like a kid using his favorite toy when he has his drill(s) on hand, often using them for "fixing". The more-harm-than-good seems to come into play, with the supposed trauma of the feeling of pain on any assistant he has when working on his mechanics (normally, he has a habit of accidentally aiming the drill at anyone there helping him), though most times everything comes out fine.
Coffee is his greatest passion, but he is very picky about the taste. He likes it strong but sweet, much like his sister; he often prefers she make his coffee, for an old friend of his, who went by #65, made it awful and he doesn't trust some of the others. He does, however, trust his good friend Jeryy, who not only makes the most delicious food, but also teaches him to cook and lets him procrastinate on work by helping in the kitchen. (His procrastination was often cut short by his very close friend who had a habit of attempting to keep him on task.) Strangely enough, he can run an abnormally long amount of time on coffee and hype before crashing; this isn't good because he needs at least a few hours of sleep every 30 hours or so, otherwise he becomes crazed and logic doesn't always pan out (this is when his fighting Komurins appear and when he often can't distinguish if the person its attacking is actually a target, if it can go near attacking at all--though normally, these little things just roll around the ground and create a nuisance until someone accidentally kicks or steps on one).
History:
Komui was born into a quiet, traditional Chinese family. Because both of his parents were very busy, Komui spent much of his time studying and learning about what peaked his interests. He attended a small school and had a fairly quiet childhood. Surprise and responsibility came during his preteen years in the form of a little sister namee Lenalee. Komui found himself instantly attached to this little treasure and promised himself and his parents that he would do what he could to stay by her side and protect her, and be the best big brother ever.
His plans seemed to reach a standstill shortly after he graduated high school, as a group of thugs from a Japanese gang destroyed his house and killed his parents. He planned on escaping to Europe but the authorities who had come after the events whisked his sister away, deeming Komui unfit for raising her because he was so young. She was sent to a school in Europe and her health steadily declined, and Komui, using some of his inheritance, managed to get his bachelors in Science and teaching degree and major with a 4.2 GPA in the span of three years. He was able to finally contact and visit his sister, and transferred guardianship into his name, and decided to whisk her away. From there, he let her attend a different boarding school, while his teaching career brought him to an American high school. He juggled teaching the high schoolers and attaining his masters degree in three more years, then soon transferred to work with a, hopefully, more mature audience and a bit more flexibility in his curriculum at the college level. He still keeps in contact with his sister, and often begs for her to transfer to Evergrove so she can be closest.
