I have received the idea that the desktops should be named after Las Vegas Strip hotels. I think there are roughly 20 from those I can recall, and more off-strip, which would handle expansion if we got more desktops than that. I like it!
I've proposed the idea of naming the servers after famous mathematicians or after the phonetic radio alphabet. Neither are that intriguing, though.
That, or new computers become IIIA-VIIA elements, older computers are IA-IIA, servers are lanthanides and printers are Noble Gases. Actinides be damned, even though they are largely misunderstood and certain ones are highly intriguing because of their radioactive properties, they have received a disproportionate interest due to their use as weapons of mass destruction and honestly are overrated.
Thanks a lot, all...mankillerJune 13 2005, 15:12:29 UTC
Not one idea? Not one? Well, at least not one idea that follows the rules?
C'mon, guys, I believe in y'all. You need to believe in yourselves. I think I can buy two more days, but Wednesday afternoon for sure is the cutoff, and it may come sooner. Don't make me name my computers after elements on the periodic table...
I was thinking maybe you could name them after dead authors, or artists/authors that have killed themselves, or characters from Shakespeare, or your favorite foods. We name conference rooms here after artists, but they don't have to be dead, which I don't think is as fun.
All, I have ended the contest, and none of y'alls ideas won, though I adress them each below. The computers started going live today. The winner will be taken to dinner at Red Lobster. Mmmm. However, I will accept future comments and possibly dole out future prizes (smaller) for more good ideas
